Reel Learning Welcomes New Film to Series
Naturalized, written and directed by Julia Kots, is the newest film to join the Reel Learning film series.
This eight-minute short humorously portrays a young Russian immigrant's choice to undergo the ultimate Jewish male ritual. His decision not only provokes a mixed reaction from his family, but calls into question the very foundations of what it takes, and means, to be Jewish. Naturalized won the Grand Prize at the 2007 New York Jewish Student Film Festival and has been an official selection at numerous other festivals, including the Chicago International and San Francisco Jewish Film Festivals.
Naturalized is ideal for high school ages and older, and triggers a wide range of questions and activities regarding covenant, ritual, family, language, and Jewish identity and community. Click here for more information.
